In this interview, Lynda Carter reflects on the turning point of her career — being cast as Wonder Woman in 1975. She didn’t even have to do a cold reading. The producers had already seen her in a few small roles and believed she had what it took. At the time, she was a struggling actress, trying to find her place in Hollywood. What many fans don’t know is that Lynda had actually auditioned for Wonder Woman once before, in 1974, when a very different version of the character was being developed.

During a 1996 interview on FX’s morning show Breakfast Time, Lynda Carter was asked if fans ever say or do things about Wonder Woman that make her laugh. Her answer? Absolutely. She said that sometimes she’ll walk into a room and catch grown men suddenly spinning like her — or dramatically blocking imaginary bullets like Wonder Woman — and it never fails to make her laugh. So yes… if you’ve ever spun on camera for the internet, just know this: Lynda Carter would probably find it adorable. And ve
