For me an autistic meltdown looks like: -I get nauseous -Noise, light and touch become overbearing -I shut down Anyone could get a meltdown under high levels of stress. Internal and external meltdowns. External meltdowns can include crying, shouting, stimming, rocking, hitting and physical outbursts. Autistic burnout recovery is not about pushing harder. I learned that the hard way. Burnout happens when your nervous system stays overloaded for too long. Masking. Sensory stress. Social pressure. High expectations. Eventually your system shuts down to protect you. Recovery starts with removing demand, not adding goals. These are the tips that actually helped me recover.
