Sep 18, 2024 · Legend has it the horn was based on an 1859 Adolphe Sax alto, but that Col. C. G. Conn was unwilling to put it into production. Buescher's own production saxes seem to be Conn builds early on. It's not at all clear when the real "Buescher sax" came into being, and what resemblance it might have to Sax's instrument.
