"TAKE COVER NOW! Move to a basement or an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building," the tornado warning said. "Avoid windows. If you are outdoors, in a mobile home, or in a vehicle, move to the closest substantial shelter and protect yourself from flying debris."

A flood watch that was in effect for Fort Bend, Brazoria, Wharton, Matagorda, Jackson and Calhoun counties has been canceled. You can still expect rain throughout the day on Friday with occasional thunderstorms and temperature highs in the mid 70s.

Southeast Texas is under a tornado watch through 7 p.m. Friday. But the potential for severe weather is expected to continue through early next week. Jefferson, Hardin, Jasper, Orange and Newton counties were put under a tornado watch after noon Friday, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration said.

A tornado warning was issued in Macon-Bibb County around 2:20 p.m., according to the county’s Emergency Management Agency. Bibb, Houston and Twiggs counties were also under a “severe thunderstorm warning” until 2:45 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.

End of Update-- The Storm Prediction Center in Houston/Galveston has issued a tornado watch for 13 counties in east and southeast Texas, including parts north and east of Harris County.

While a Tornado Watch has been cancelled in the Greater Houston area, thunderstorms and heavy rain are coming through the area.
