The Pentagon clarified on Thursday that Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth thinks women should have the right to vote, despite his sharing of CNN reporting which featured religious leaders he supports saying they would back the repealing of the 19th Amendment.

Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth reposted the video profiling Christian Nationalist Pastor Doug Wilson, who opposes same-sex marriage.

Hegseth, a former Fox News personality, has faced scrutiny for his association with Wilson—and Wilson’s anti–women’s suffrage views—since he was nominated to lead the Department of Defense. (Wilson also once wrote that “slavery produced in the South a genuine affection between the races.”)
