The U.S. soldiers had been at the center of a recovery mission in Lithuania for nearly a week after their armored vehicle sank near the country's border with Belarus.

The four soldiers from the 1st Brigade, 3rd Infantry Division, based out of Fort Stewart, Georgia, were last seen early on Tuesday.

Four US soldiers and a vehicle went missing in eastern Lithuania, where authorities have been carrying out a search-and-rescue operation since Tuesday.
