United States Army Secretary Dan Driscoll held secret talks on Monday with a Russian delegation in Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates to follow up on this weekend’s talks with Ukraine in Geneva that were intended to move the Ukraine peace process forward, a U.S. official told ABC News.

There was no immediate comment from Russia. The attack followed talks between US and Ukrainian representatives in Switzerland’s Geneva to thrash out Washington’s so-called 28-point plan, which Kyiv and its European allies saw as a Kremlin wish list.

The U.S. Army secretary, Daniel P. Driscoll, is in the United Arab Emirates for scheduled meetings with a Russian delegation about President Trump’s latest plan for peace in Ukraine, a U.S. official said.

The White House hailed what it called constructive talks with Ukraine in Geneva on Sunday, saying the two sides had modified the Trump administration’s proposed plan for ending the war with Russia.
