Federal trial proceedings opened Monday for a Wisconsin state judge accused of helping a man in her courtroom evade immigration authorities, a closely watched case in the Trump administration’s push on deportations.

Milwaukee County Circuit Court Judge Hannah Dugan was arrested by the FBI in April and charged in a two-count federal indictment, alleging she obstructed Department of Homeland officials and knowingly concealed a man from immigration authorities. She has pleaded not guilty.
