The new anchor of the Cleveland Guardians’ rotation is sticking around for the long haul. Tanner Bibee and the club agreed to a five-year contract extension on Saturday. The deal, which guarantees Bibee at least $48 million according to a team source, includes a club option for the 2030 season.

GOODYEAR, Arizona — The Guardians have signed Tanner Bibee to a five-year extension with a club option for 2030. The Athletic is reporting that the deal is worth at least $48 million. Earlier this week Bibee was named Cleveland’s opening day starter. The Guardians open the season on Thursday against the Royals at Kauffman Stadium.

Bibee will get his first opening-day assignment on Thursday at Kansas City. He went 12-8 with a 3.47 ERA last season, finishing with 12 quality starts in 31 outings and 187 strikeouts in 173 2/3 innings.
