The Astros, who once led the division by seven games, are now in a dead heat with the Mariners with 42 games to go.

On July 6, the final day of that Dodgers sweep, FanGraphs gave the Astros 85.9 percent odds to win the American League West. Houston has lost 18 of its 30 games since and seen its probability plummet to 43.8 percent, according to those same odds.

Having won six of seven games since the trade deadline, the Seattle Mariners enter play on Friday at 63-53, a season-high 10 games over .500. The Mariners are coming off a sweep of the Chicago White Sox and will look to continue the positive momentum over the weekend against the Tampa Bay Rays at T-Mobile Park.

With a 1-0 victory over the Baltimore Orioles on Tuesday, the Mariners won their eighth straight game and tied the Houston Astros, who were blown out 14-1 by the Boston Red Sox, for first place in the AL West. Both teams now sit at 67-53.
