However, when talking about “very large hail,” Barnes said typically that relates to hail around 2 inches in size. “Typically, that’s more in the ballpark of golf ball [size] or 2 inches or greater,” Barnes said.

The National Weather Service said storms would most likely develop after 3 a.m. and through the morning commute. The agency’s forecasters said the main threats are large hail and damaging wind, and there’s also a low tornado threat.
