Nebraska softball player Jordy Bahl was named the NFCA Co-Player of the Week for her play in the Troy Cox Classic last weekend.

Jordy Bahl's no-hitter and Nebraska softball's powerful offense lead to two more victories on Day 2 of the Troy Cox Classic in New Mexico.

Nebraska (1-0) was neutralized by Tennessee’s Karlyn Pickens for much of the game before a five-run fifth inning turned the contest on its head. Pickens, who finished the game with 11 strikeouts, took a 1-0 lead into the frame and recorded two quick outs before Nebraska put together a long two-out rally.

In yesterday’s column sharing the news Ava Kuszak and Jordy Bahl had received the B1G Co-Player and Pitcher of the Week honors respectively, I couldn’t resist a little jab at the conference for not awarding both of them the recognition outright.

The duo helped the Huskers to that 5-0 finish with all five victories coming via the run-rule - that is, with the game being called in the 5th inning or later once a team takes an 8+ run lead after the trailing team has had their bats that inning.

Nebraska softball put on an offensive clinic in New Mexico, dominating the competition with a powerful display at the plate.
