The Storm Prediction Center has shifted the widespread severe weather threat just a little to the northeast, putting the very southwest corner of Lower Michigan in the chance of damaging wind gusts and even a strong tornado.

It's not uncommon for the first big warm to occur with a threat of severe weather. This looks to be the case for many in the Midwest and Great Lakes for the next 24 hours. A deepening area of low pressure will be the focal point on Friday to initiate the thunderstorms.
