Texas Republicans are trying to reconvene the state Legislature to vote on redrawing congressional maps in their party's favor.

The comment marks the latest show of support Texas Gov. Greg Abbott has made for a congressional redistricting map in the state that could net the GOP five additional seats in the U.S. House.

In Austin, the Texas House of Representatives is scheduled to meet and the redistricting bill is technically scheduled for a second reading (which would not be a vote to pass it out of the chamber). But this cannot happen without a quorum present;
