Jones, who died in November at age 91, produced the movie and also wrote the score for the film, which was nominated for 11 Academy Awards at the 1986 ceremony
A Queen gave an Oscar tribute fit for a king. That’s what happened at the 97th Academy Awards at the Dolby Theatre on Sunday night when Queen Latifah gave a salute to movie music icon Quincy Jones, who died at 91 from pancreatic cancer last November.
The Oscars included a somber elegy for Gene Hackman and a joyful tribute to Quincy Jones. Morgan Freeman paid tribute to his “Unforgiven” co-star Hackman, calling him a “giant” and “dear friend."
