Both players missed Friday night’s 121-102 victory at the Brooklyn Nets. Grant was out with right knee soreness. Avdija sat out with a left quad contusion suffered during the first quarter of Wednesday night’s 129-121 victory at the Washington Wizards.
In the final moments, Avdija had a chance to cap his historic night with a game-winning three-pointer, but the shot missed, sealing Portland’s defeat.
Backup guard Ty Jerome had a massive impact on the game, tallying 25 points on 8-of-17 shooting, five rebounds, six assists, and six steals in 36 minutes off the bench. However, the former Virginia star had some choice comments about the officials after the game.
The Blazes led by as much as 18 in the third quarter but couldn't hold on, ending their four-game winning streak.
