One Brown student recalled barricading for four hours in the Sciences Library building after a gunman shot and killed two students at a nearby engineering building on Saturday.

Ella Cook and MukhammadAziz Umurzokov were identified as the two students killed in a mass shooting at Brown University on Dec. 13.

The effort to find a man who walked onto Brown University’s campus and shot nearly a dozen students in a crowded lecture hall has raised serious questions about the school’s security systems and the urgency of the investigation itself.

The order to shelter in place remained in effect early Sunday, more than eight hours after the shooting at Brown's Barus & Holley building.

For nine hours, students at Brown University crouched under desks and behind locked door, making panicked phone calls and sending “I love you” texts that felt dangerously close to goodbyes. An active shooter was on campus — and police were still searching for a suspect.

A normally bustling city was quiet and students were shaken Monday morning as a manhunt continued for the Brown University shooting suspect.

The Husson Artwalk event showcased work created by students, representing various fine art classes throughout the semester. This semester’s Artwalk took place across multiple venues, including the newly opened Peabody Maker Space.

The University of Michigan is currently the largest public institution in the state in terms of total enrollment. According to the University Record, the University’s fall enrollment reached a total of 52,065 matriculated students, a 2% increase from 2022.
