Despite supply chain issues and ongoing inflation, Latitude Margaritaville Watersound in Bay County is booming with development.

By RCLCO's count, Latitude Margaritaville Daytona Beach has sold an average of nearly 558 homes a year, nearly double what Minto officials originally forecast.

Bay County Commissioners rezoned more than 4,300 acres near Latitude Margaritaville Watersound, which opens up the possibility for it to expand.

Latitude Margaritaville, the brainchild of American singer, songwriter and author Jimmy Buffett, has 10,265 homes in its three locations in Daytona Beach, Watersound and Hilton Head, South Carolina.

Some say Latitude Margaritaville is where you can permanently be on vacation every day. The jimmy buffet-themed 55 and up community is quickly growing just north of Panama City Beach off highway 79.

Bay County commissioners on Tuesday approved a plat for 192 more homes at Latitude Margaritaville Watersound, a Jimmy Buffett-themed community geared toward residents at least 55 years old.

Latitude Margaritaville Daytona Beach is now home to 6,000 people. "We've drawn residents from every state in the union with the exception of Alaska, North Dakota and Vermont," said Bullock.

Latitude Margaritaville Watersound opened to a resounding response from home buyers in May 2021, and reached the 1,000th home sale just 19 months later.
