The top-ranked and No. 5 national seed Tar Heels fell to the Wildcats on Sunday, 4-3, after leading earlier during much of the Chapel Hill Super Regional game at Boshamer Stadium.

The UNC Chapel Hill board hasn’t tenured a single professor in fields outside the health sciences since January. The inaction has prompted confusion and alarm among faculty.

After faculty raised alarm over the board’s delay on the decisions, trustees finally debated and voted by email. A couple of them said they generally opposed tenure.

The Board of Trustees’ inaction on tenure cases for professors not in the health sciences had stoked confusion on the campus.
