A University of Minnesota grad student was detained by ICE due to a drunk driving infraction, not for being involved in protests, federal officials say.
An foreign grad student attending the University of Minnesota has been detained by ICE. The DHS said the student had a prior criminal history for a DUI.
The graduate student, who is enrolled on the U’s Twin Cities campus, was detained at an off-campus residence Thursday.
The school didn't release the student’s name and said it didn't have more information. It called the situation “deeply concerning.”
