Julio Jones, one of the greatest receivers of his generation, officially retired from the NFL on Friday evening. Over 13 seasons in the league, Jones racked up 914 receptions for 13,703 yards and 66 touchdowns.

A.J. Brown said the NFL is saying goodbye to "the best WR to play the game" after the Friday retirement announcement of Julio Jones. "The best WR to play the game in my book," Brown wrote in a Friday social media post honoring Jones. "Taught me how to play the position before we even met.

Jones said he chose to announce his retirement on Friday because it was “404 Day.” The area code for Atlanta is 404. “I’m making this announcement today because of the city of Atlanta,” Jones said. “Thank y’all. I appreciate y’all. It’s nothing but love.”
