Enzo Maresca has warned not to expect Mathis Amougou - Chelsea ’s sole January signing - to play a significant part in the rest of their campaign, despite the club’s midfield shortage. Amougou joined the Blues from French side St. Etienne in a £12million deal on deadline day, at the end of what was a quiet window for the club in terms of incomings.

Chelsea has confirmed the signing of 19-year-old midfielder Mathis Amougou from Saint-Etienne. Amougou who made 17 top-flight appearances for the French club signed an eight-year contract at Stamford Bridge.

Etienne worth in the region of €15 million ($15.5m), sources have told ESPN. The sources added that the 19-year-old midfielder is more likely to join the Blues' first-team setup immediately as opposed to joining Chelsea's sister club Strasbourg on loan,
