Training games set to commence on Thursday, injury updates are floating in daily from all MLB clubs. The New York Yankees will have their Grapefruit League opener on Friday, but the team will keep their eyes on a certain bullpen session.

Schmidt has yet to throw live batting practice in front of reporters this spring, as his back started flaring up following a Feb. 14 bullpen session.

Hampton was one of the arms the Yankees were excited about. They hoped he could give them solid insurance in case there were injuries to the big league rotation. Hampton was sent to New York on Feb. 18 with a forearm strain and concern about the ulnar collateral ligament in his elbow.
