It’s become normal now for NFL starters to skip playing in preseason games. With that, you can expect some of the biggest names on the Steelers to do the same when they play their preseason opener against Jacksonville on Saturday.

With rookie quarterback Will Howard out, the Steelers might only play two quarterbacks if Aaron Rodgers doesn't play.

Rodgers is right. While there are some clear benefits to preseason football (like going against someone other than your teammates), there isn't a lot that can be gained if you're a player of Rodgers' caliber. As Rodgers stated, offenses aren't facing defenses that are game-planning against them, and vice versa.
