Winter weather-related warnings were in place for at least 17 states across the U.S. early on Friday, the National Weather Service (NWS) forecasting 13 inches of snow to hit some parts of the country.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for Coconino County through 8 p.m. March 7. Heavy snow was expected above 5,000 feet, with lighter amounts down to 4,000 to 4,500 feet. Total snow accumulations between 1 and 12 inches were expected.
