Campgrounds in the Mount Hood National Forest that normally open around this time of year, like Trillium and Timothy Lake, are still covered with snow.
The location for these stunning views is Trillium Lake, a 65-acre man-made lake at 3,600 feet that offers a leisurely hike, picnic tables, camping and non-motorized water activities.
In addition, three campgrounds near Mount Hood — Trillium Lake, Still Creek and Frog Lake — also were delayed until roughly June 10.
When winter hits, the recreation adage goes: “If you can walk, you can snow shoe” on the trail to Trillium Lake in the Mt Hood National Forest.
Trillium Lake: The easy 4.4-mile loop Trillium Lake Loop Trail starts out at the Trillium Sno-Park and loops all the way around Trillium Lake. The popular trail is shared with cross-country skiers.
