Netflix is increasing prices for all subscription tiers, including the ad-supported plan. The ad-supported tier now costs $7.99/month, the same price as the full experience a decade ago. Standard tier will jump to $17.

Netflix is starting off the new year with another subscription price hike. The latest price change, Netflix's first in the U.S. since October 2023, comes after the company reported adding a record 19 million new subscribers in the most recent quarter for a total of 302 million members.

Netflix reaffirmed its dominance of the streaming video market on Tuesday, as its mixture of live sporting events, popular returning series - and singular moments, such as a football halftime performance by Beyonce - helped attract a record number of subscribers over the holiday quarter.

Asked if prices were set to increase in the UK, a spokesperson for Netflix said there was "nothing to share right now". Netflix announced better-than-expected subscriber numbers, helped by the second series of South Korean drama Squid Game as well as sports including a boxing match between influencer-turned-fighter Jake Paul and former world heavyweight champion Mike Tyson.
