The words that are written and the ideas conveyed on the sands of a beach, with the rising and receding of the tide, can simply be washed away in short time. But just off the shores of Daytona Beach,

Bubba Wallace will start third in the Daytona 500 on Sunday Wallace won the first Duel qualifying race ahead of William Byron and Ty Dillon. He had a fast car for much of the race and was able to control the lead at the front for the final laps.

A handful of laps later, however, was a different story. Chandler Smith attempted a late block on Lap 15 over Justin Haley, sending his car for a spin into the outside wall. That collected others further back, including other open cars needing to race their way into Sunday’s main event.
