The Sunshine Coast has been hit by spectacular lightning overnight as residents continue to clean up the damage of a storm which sent trees onto cars, powerlines down and pelted areas with hail.

Florida residents have a higher chance of getting struck by lightning than most, and a Florida Power & Light subsidiary offers protection.
