Halfway through the race and as of this writing, eight drivers were out of the race but drivers like Josef Newgarden, seeking his third straight Indy 500 win, and Helio Castroneves, seeking his recording-breaking fifth ever Indy 500 win, were still in the mix.

Indianapolis 500 rookie Robert Shwartzman crashed into crew members on pit road on Sunday, ending his improbable run in “The Greatest Spectacle in Racing.”

NASCAR Cup Series star Kyle Larson's second bid at the Indy-Charlotte Double ended on the hook at both ends, as crashes in both the Indianapolis 500 and Coca-Cola 600 kept him from finishing either race on the Sunday of Memorial Day Weekend.

Kyle Larson, who is attempting to run both the Indy 500 and the Coca-Cola 600 on the same day, spun out in Turn 2 on a Lap 91 restart, collecting Sting Ray Robb and knocking both out of the race.

Scott McLaughlin's dreams of winning the Indianapolis 500 were dashed before the race officially went green on Sunday afternoon. He crashed on the pace laps.
