Over the next week, around 800 high temperature records are forecast to be neared, tied or broken at 165 locations in Western and Central states.

Denver weather broke the all-time record high temperature for March hitting 85 degrees on Thursday, and heat in the coming days is expected to shatter that record, too.

Spanning over 3.8 million square miles, and stretching from the Arctic Circle nearly down to the Caribbean, the U.S. is one of the largest countries in the world. Partly owing to its size, it also has some of the greatest temperature variations of any country.

Temperatures were high enough to break records starting Sunday. Next week will be cooler, but not by much.
