Hōnaunau Bay, Hawaii on 25 January, 2020. Sea urchin populations are ballooning in the bay, putting the coral reef at risk, a new study has found.
The sea urchin belongs to the species Stereocidaris nascaensis, which also means the ROV SuBastian research shows the urchin living farther west than previously known, according to the study.
These systems are capable of self‐assembling into diverse structures such as chiral nanotubes, mesoscopic clusters and even giant sea urchin‐like architectures.
