Day camp providers and schools are warning that a Trump administration funding freeze could wreck summer for low-income American families and wipe out some after-school programming next year.

The state’s Department of Education told LAist Tuesday the total funding loss could exceed $1 billion, spread across five long-standing federally funded programs that support teacher training, English language learners and afterschool programs across the country.

WA's Superintendent of Public Instruction said money Congress allocated in March for this school year is being reconsidered according to the "President's priorities."
