Often called the “Crown Jewel” of the Louisiana State Parks system, Chicot offers still waters with dozens of inlets, perfect for a relaxing day of birdwatching from a canoe or kayak.

Chicot State Park fully reopened in late June. Lake Bistineau State Park is open for daytime use. Office spokeswoman Rebecca Rundell says there's no date set for reopening its overnight facilities.

Visitors will be able to enter Bayou Segnette State Park through the entrance station and will have access to the boat launch and parking lot and the day-use area, including the picnic areas.

In Chicot State Park, a 6,400-acre park near Ville Platte, those quarantined are living in cabins and trailers among the park. The park has been closed since March 18.
