The Blackhawks shut out the Rangers with star turns by star players to get back on track after a series of blowout losses.

The Red Wings ended their trip Saturday with a convincing 4-0 victory over the Blackhawks, finishing the trip 4-1-1 and earning nine of 12 points.

Spencer Knight made 26 saves for the Blackhawks (12-10-6), who won 2-1 against the Kings here on Thursday.

The injured-reserve designation is retroactive to Friday, and players placed on IR cannot participate in games for a minimum of seven days. Using Blashill’s marker of the new year, the Blackhawks play eight games between now and Jan. 1, starting Tuesday in Toronto. They play 17 games between Jan. 2 and the Olympic break, which begins Feb. 6.
