Bayou La Batre residents who see oysters as their "heritage" said they feel forgotten by the state 20 years after the storm.

More than 80 percent of the oysters processed in Bayou La Batre come from Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas.

The Mobile Chamber has announced Birdon's $37.55 million expansion at its Bayou La Batre shipyard, marking a major investment in the region's maritime industry.

The post said that a 12-year-old, and a 14-year-old, were found in Bayou La Batre. Multiple agencies from Florida, Alabama, and Louisiana were involved in the investigation.

Bayou La Batre, the home of Alabama's seafood industry, is hoping for help from the state and federal government, as imported shrimp has driven the industry to the brink of collapse.
