WASHINGTON: The United States Senate on Sunday (Nov 9) moved toward a vote on reopening the federal government amid optimism that an end to the historic shutdown, now in its 40th day, is within reach.
Taking to Truth Social on Friday afternoon, Trump wrote, "The United States Senate should not leave town until they have a Deal to end the Democrat Shutdown. If they can’t reach a Deal, the Republicans should terminate the Filibuster, IMMEDIATELY, and take care of our Great American Workers!"
Senators Elizabeth Warren and Edward J. Markey issued statements criticizing the agreement which does not guarantee the Affordable Care Act subsidies will be extended, as Democrats have demanded for almost six weeks.
