Senate Bill 31 supporters say it would clarify when doctors should intervene to save a pregnant woman’s life, but critics say its vagueness and a measure to resurrect pre-Roe laws hamper it.

Senators also heard testimony on a pair of bills that would crack down on abortion pill access and block taxpayer-funded abortion travel.

The Thursday hearing was the first chance Texans had to address lawmakers about a post-Roe trigger ban on all but lifesaving abortions.
