Lionsgate announced it would be producing a film adaptation of Suzanne Collins' "Sunrise on the Reaping" before the book was even released.

Scholastic announced Thursday that Suzanne Collins ‘ new novel in the bestselling Hunger Games series, Sunrise on the Reaping , sold more than 1.5 million world English copies—including print, e-books, and audiobooks—in its first week on sale in the U.S., U.K., Ireland, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.

The movie was ultimately released in 2023 and starred Tom Blyth and Rachel Zegler, and proved to be a surprise box office hit, grossing almost $350 million at the worldwide box office. The Sunrise on the Reaping book came out on March 18,
