The vote to eliminate the "Tush Push" at the NFL owners meetings has been tabled to May, as the league is split on whether to ban the play made popular by the Eagles. Teams had an informal 16-16 vote on the "Tush Push," CBS Sports NFL insider Jonathan Jones reports, needing 24 of 32 votes to ban the play (75% of the teams).
As teams continue to weigh the pros and cons, NFL insider Adam Schefter revealed on Thursday that league commissioner Roger Goodell has already seemingly picked his side in the tush push debate.
Jones told Yahoo Sports he thinks a different factor comes into play when considering the proposed ban, and it may speak to what a revised rule change proposal might look like at next month's NFL meeting in Minneapolis.
There isn’t enough pushback yet. NFL owners couldn’t come to a conclusion about the tush push at this week’s league meetings in Palm Beach, Fla., according to ESPN. The Brotherly Shove — which is Philadelphia’s signature short-yardage play — has been the hottest topic this week between NFL owners as a potential ban of this new version of a quarterback sneak has gained momentum.
