Leiter had the beginnings of a blister on his right middle finger, but threw breaking pitches for 41 of his 70 pitches against the Reds. It inflamed the irritation, eventually ripping the blister off and leaving a patch of tender skin underneath. Leiter left the eventual 1-0 win after five innings.

Jack Leiter shut the Cincinnati Reds down for the second game in a row on Wednesday and the Texas Rangers won 1-0 to take the three-game series. The Rangers were outscored 14-5 in the three games but still won the series.
