Conor Garland added an empty-net goal as Vancouver, which had won only three of its previous 12 games, smothered the Rangers from start to finish. New York is 4-10-3 at home.

The Vancouver Canucks are looking to trade Lukas Reichel, and the New York Rangers should pursue him because of it.

Sherwood’s appeal as an in-season pickup is clear. The veteran winger has 13 goals on the year, ranks second league-wide with 140 hits, and has an incredibly team-friendly cap hit of $1.5 million. According to David Pagnotta, a number of interested clubs are closely monitoring the 30-year-old’s situation.

In goal, the Canucks will once again turn to Thatcher Demko, who is making his third-straight start. Demko has had some success against the Rangers during his career, as he has a record of 3-1-0 with a .935 save percentage. Demko's only loss against New York came earlier this year when the Rangers picked up a 2-0 victory at Rogers Arena.

The Rangers could use another impactful forward and should make a big push for Canucks winger Kiefer Sherwood.
