Tensions flared late in the Cincinnati Reds’ 3-2 loss to the Kansas City Royals on Wednesday when both manager Terry Francona and pitcher Nick Martinez were ejected in the ninth inning. The drama unfolded after a contentious called third strike on Reds infielder Matt McLain.

"The bottom of the strike zone has been nonexistent here tonight," Jeff Brantley said. "And that's all fine and good, but don't change it now."

Nick Martinez worked seven strong innings and Tyler Stephenson homered to lead the Cincinnati Reds to a 7-4 win over the Kansas City Royals on Monday. Martinez (3-5) allowed three singles through six shutout innings and finished seven innings allowing three runs on six hits with two strikeouts and no walks.
