Michigan State started off slow and didn’t take the lead until 7:50 was left to play, but they held on to beat Ole Miss 73-30. In March, it’s not about being the better team, it’s just about winning the game you’re in.

The Michigan State Spartans pulled off a win against No. 6 seed Ole Miss on March 28, and doing so, they earned themselves a spot in the Elite Eight. It was a tight, 73-70 win victory, but a win is a win.

For the 16th time during his 30 seasons as head coach of Michigan State basketball, Tom Izzo and his Spartans have advanced to the Sweet 16 round of March Madness. Izzo and his teams are 10-5 in Sweet 16 play of the NCAA tournament, and their victories include a 75-58 win over Syracuse on their way to a national championship in 2000.

Before the press conference officially started following the Auburn Tigers' Sweet 16 victory over the Michigan Wolverines, All-American forward Johni Broome could be overheard telling his teammates he thought he didn't play very well.
