The 2-seed Michigan State Spartans defeated the 6-seed Ole Miss Rebels on Friday in an NCAA tournament Sweet 16 matchup to advance to the Elite Eight.

No. 1 seed Auburn men’s basketball will face No. 2 seed Michigan State in the Elite Eight at 4:05 p.m. CT on Sunday in Atlanta, CBS announced for the upcoming March Madness slate. The game will be broadcast on CBS. Ian Eagle, Grant Hill, Bill Raftery and Tracy Wolfson will be on the call again.

The No. 2 seed Spartans (29-6) face the No. 6 seed Ole Miss Rebels (24-11) in Atlanta, Georgia. The winner will face either No. 5 seed Michigan (27-9) or No. 1 seed Auburn (30-5) Sunday in an Elite 8 game.

After neither team got the offense going for a few possessions, Auburn secures an offensive rebound, which is kicked out to guard Denver Jones behind the arc and his 3-point look was good to open the scoring.

The Auburn Tigers beat Michigan 78-65 in the Sweet Sixteen to advance to the next round of the NCAA tournament. Johni Broome led the Tigers with 22 points and 16 rebounds. New Market native Denver Jones was on fire for the Tigers;

The Spartans rallied in the second half to beat Mississippi and earn their first trip to the Elite Eight trip since 2019.

Michigan State is one win away from a ninth Final Four appearance in the 70-year-old’s 30-year tenure. If the Spartans can get by top-seeded Auburn or rival Michigan in the Elite Eight, Izzo will join Roy Williams, ranking fourth all-time in Final Four appearances, behind only Mike Krzyzewski (13), John Wooden (12) and Dean Smith (11).

Jace Richardson scored 24 points and Michigan State surged past Mississippi in the second half for a 73-70 victory on Friday night in the NCAA Tournament Sweet 16. Ole Miss (24-12) was denied in its bid for its first Elite Eight appearance despite leading by 10 points in the first half and by nine in the second half.
