Former U.S. Rep. Mia Love of Utah, a daughter of Haitian immigrants who became the first Black Republican woman elected to Congress, died on Sunday. She was 49. Love had been undergoing treatment for brain cancer prior to her death.

Mia Love, the first Black Republican woman elected to the U.S. House, will be remembered at a service on April 7.

Mia Love made history in 2014 when she was elected as the first Black Republican woman to serve in Congress, representing Utah's 4th District.
