With the sudden opening at Michigan, the second-year coach has stated he will stay at Alabama as the ninth-ranked Crimson Tide prepare for a playoff game at No. 8 Oklahoma.
Alabama football could have a handful of players back for its first round meeting against Oklahoma in the College Football Playoff.
CBS college football analyst Rick Neuheisel reported Kalen DeBoer plans to stay at Alabama on Friday. “My sources say Kalen DeBoer is happy in Tuscaloosa and will stay there,” Neuheisel said.
The Crimson Tide quarterback completed less than half of his passes in the SEC Championship Game, and the offense only mustered seven points.
According to DeBoer’s contract, obtained by AL.com via an open records request, he would be on the hook for a $4 million buyout. That’s a lot of money, but would not be a deterrent to a big-time college football program, which would likely cover the bill if one were to poach DeBoer.
