Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson challenged a trademark application by Dale Earnhardt Jr. for the No. 8 style that had been used by JR Motorsports since 2019.

Since then, Junior has run the #8 car in a race for the CARS Tour, a late model short track series in which Dale Jr. is a co-owner. And he’s also released merch featuring his #8 car that many fans associate with the Hall of Fame driver.

Jackson, who has worn No. 8 since his college days at Louisville, previously registered the trademark “ERA 8 by Lamar Jackson.” His latest claim argued that Earnhardt’s attempt to trademark that particular version of No. 8 would create confusion among consumers.
