The announcement came hours after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel arrived in the country for a visit despite facing an international arrest warrant.

Hungary will withdraw from the International Criminal Court (ICC), its government said Wednesday, as the country’s Prime Minister Viktor Orban welcomed Israeli Prime Minister and ICC fugitive Benjamin Netanyahu to Budapest.

Hungary will on Thursday start the legal procedure to exit the International Criminal Court, a senior official in Prime Minister Viktor Orban’s government said.

The announcement came as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu arrived in the Hungarian capital, Budapest, despite an international arrest warrant against him over his conduct of the war in the Gaza Strip.
