While Comcast / NBCUniversal argued for a Hulu valuation that could’ve cost Disney another $5 billion on top of the $8.6 billion it had already paid, a third-party appraiser reached a number much closer to Disney’s.

The Bob Iger-run entertainment giant agreed to buy the 33 percent stake in Hulu in 2023; after an extended appraisal process, the deal is finally set to close.

Disney said it had agreed to add $439 million to what it had already paid for the streaming service. Comcast had wanted $5 billion more.
